Lugard Fallsis located at the foot of the Yatta ateau and consists of rapids through large rock formations and caverns. Beautiful works of art have been carved out of these rocks by the water. The origin of the rapids is the convergence of the Athi and the Galana river, making this a geographical landmark in the Tsavo NP.

Tsavo Eastis fairly flat and very large in size, the game in the dry season is mainly found near the Galana River and the Kanderi swamps. It is forbidden to deviate from the paths, so a telephoto lens is not a superfluous luxury in the park.

South Kitui Reserveis located northwest of the Tsavo Reserve. The reserve is closed to the general public. To visit this reserve, one can submit a request to Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS). It is possible to make game drives accompanied by a ranger from KWS.

The Man-Eaters of Tsavothe park also has a history about whi a book was written and later filmed. The story is about a group of lions that terrorized the construction of the railway line, and managed to drag workers away every time due to great security features. The skeletons of the workers were found in a cave that was flooded. It alienated everyone, because a lion never brings its prey to the same ace and it remains a mystery to this day.

The main point is between Mtito Andei and Voi where the Tsavo River enters the park known as the Maneaters Bridge. The park has an important 2nd history as it was a battlefield during the First World War where the British troops fought against the Germans who occupied what was then Tanganyika, now Tanzania.

History

Tsavo has seen a large number of poaers in the years 1973-1989 when an average of 5000 elephants were slaughtered. Peoe are still trying to curb this and sometimes successfully, but at the moment many slaughter aces have been found of the so-called bush-meat buters. In cruel ways, the beasts are found slaughtered in the park.

With the help of Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, initiatives have again been taken to combat this. A final count in 1991 indicated that Tsavo is currently home to around 7,000 elephants and has the largest population in all of Kenya.

The elephant orphanage shelter of The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust also uses Tsavo East to release their 4-year-old calves back into the wild. Several orphaned elephants have successfully found their way back into nature and have joined the other families who live here in different groups.
